Community of Survivorship at SYSF

Melanoma is among the top 10 cancers diagnosed in Canada, but every diagnosis is unique and every patient has their own story. The most important thing to remember is that we’re all #InItTogether. If you’ve been diagnosed, arm yourself with information, don’t give up hope, and remember that you are not alone. Find your melanoma community.

Move For Melanoma 2021 PSA

On September 25-26th, Save Your Skin Foundation hosted its 3rd annual Move for Melanoma activity challenge across Canada to raise funds for melanoma, non-melanoma skin cancer, and ocular melanoma patients. Move for Melanoma is an activity challenge that takes place across Canada. The goal of the event is to bring awareness to melanoma, non-melanoma skin cancer and ocular melanoma, while raising funds to support patients affected with these illnesses when they need it most.

MOVE FOR MELANOMA, 2019

On September 13 – 16, 2019, Save Your Skin Foundation co-hosted a special Canada-wide fundraising event called MOVE FOR MELANOMA, a weekend-long challenge where teams participated in the activity of their choice while fundraising for the fight against skin cancer.

SKIN CANCER IS REAL, 2019

In 2017, 7,200 Canadians were diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer. 1,200 lost their lives to it. Protect yourself by being sun safe. Check yourself with monthly skin exams. Inform yourself. Skin cancer is real. Produced and directed by Film Vancouver Production Services.

We live in a new era of cancer and a new hope for survivorship. A short time ago, patients diagnosed with melanoma were more likely to die from the disease than to survive it. Today’s reality is different. New treatments have become available in recent years and more promising treatments are on the way. This is revolutionary for a cancer for which, not long ago, there was no hope.

This initiative is borne from Kathy’s desire to ensure that those diagnosed with melanoma know that surviving melanoma is possible –“I’m Living Proof”
