June 2021: After many years of providing support to melanoma patients and caregivers, the Alberta Society of Melanoma is merging with national organization Save Your Skin Foundation.  The highest priority of both organizations has always been to provide support and up-to-date information to melanoma and skin cancer patients and caregivers. As a national, patient-led, not-for-profit organization, SYSF is well positioned to assume responsibility for the services and resources previously offered by ASM to Albertans, and to all Canadians.

“We’ve had a close and special relationship with ASM for many years and I am honoured to have them merge with our foundation,” says Kathy Barnard, President and Founder of Save Your Skin Foundation, and stage IV metastatic melanoma survivor. “Alberta is very near and dear to my heart. When I was first diagnosed with melanoma and was told I had six months to live, it was a clinical trial in Edmonton that saved my life. On a personal level, I’m very excited to be bringing support and resources to Albertans who have been touched by melanoma and skin cancer.”
