Community Awareness
The Save Your Skin Foundation plays an active role in participating in a number of community events to raise awareness of Skin Cancer.

Research and Financial Assistance
In addition to community awareness, now that the Save Your Skin Foundation is established, we are proudly donating funds to:

• support further research into treatment options
• provide financial assistance for those needing treatment
• provide financial support for the families of those requiring treatment

For example, the Save Your Skin Foundation is proud to support the Mary Johnson Professorship in Melanoma Research.

Your Donation in Action

"I want to express my gratitude for your generous donation. The Mary Johnston Chair has allowed my laboratory to undertake research into the inner workings of melanoma. Our particular interest is on a protein that is necessary to make melanocytes - these are the pigment-producing cells of your skin that become cancerous in melanoma. Somehow, this protein gets 'hijacked' in melanoma where it can promote tumor growth. We believe understanding how this takes place will provide us with opportunities to re-take control and impede the cancer's progress."
